Winning Trainer: James Cummings (Sean Keogh interviewed)

“Super effort. I was delighted to see the filly get up and win. The colt (Kallos) did a good effort too being four wide the trip and missing out on a place only a neck down.

“But the filly won and the result was good. We brought them both here on Monday for a gallop around and they both galloped separately. We were pleased with both of their gallops. Telluride, she was Damien’s pick so he probably had her there but the colt we well trialled coming in having had the two trials in Sydney and a jump out last Friday. So there wasn’t much between them.

“It looked like the trip around on the night was the difference.”

Pride in success in Melbourne with two-year-olds: “Of course. We take pride in all of our horses. It’s a real credit to James picking out these races here and in Sydney. Credit to Crown Lodge who do most of the work with the two-year-olds and send them down to us.”

Winning Jockey: Damien Oliver

“She ran really well first-up and she repeated the performance again today. I thought that the wide gate was going to make it a bit more difficult and she had to cover more ground, but against that she had a nice uninterrupted run too, so it was a good effort.

“I kept my options open early. I wasn’t sure if I’d have enough speed to go forward or come back. She broke evenly but there was one quicker than me on the inside so I decided just to ride her a bit patiently. She was travelling well coming to the turn, the inside (horse) gave a good kick and I didn’t know if I’d be able to run them down but it was a good strong effort to run over the top of them.”

Where she measures up: “I think she’s got potential there to be a stakes-class filly but not sure she’s up to the top ones but there could be some stakes class races there for her for sure.”
