Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace (Ciaron Maher speaking)

“He has been a really frustrating horse but I’ve hardly got a horse in the stable that can go with it but he just wasn’t taking that to the track.

“One of the owners, Dr Goel, was quite keen to retain him and said would I keep a share - I’d train him better if I kept a share.

“He hasn’t done too much wrong. Linda, she’s a great judge of pace. He was a little bit too relaxed actually.

“I’ll probably freshen him up a little bit now. It looked like he was labouring a little bit, but a really strong win.

“He’s got a new string to his bow, he’s been jumping a few hurdles and been enjoying it. A great result.”

Won Jericho Cup qualifier at Gawler: “It was a great one, actually. Got one of my best mates and a few of my family in this horse. He hasn’t done much wrong, that horse. I’ll probably get some training fees out of the family now.”

Winning Jockey: Linda Meech

“I rode him along time ago, it was nice to get back on him tonight. He’s changed and I’ve probably changed as well. He’s turned into a real lazy old thing. He’s still winning and he’s winning really well ”

“I wasn’t sure how much I had left at the 800m, he just kept switching off on me. He switched off from the start of the race, he’s got that down pat. He was still very convincing and it’s lovely to see him winning.”

“As a young horse he was very colty and headstrong, and the only way to switch him off was to let him be in control and let him run. But now he’s got older and wiser and he’s happy just to settle and do as little as possible. I still thought he was good up the straight.”
