“‘Tags’ is back. Thank God, what a relief. It’s fantastic, actually. Dominated that today and he (Currie) gave him a peach of a ride and it worked out perfectly.

Australian Guineas: “In a couple of weeks time he’s going to meet half the same field with two kilos (better) at the set weights so it’s really nice going forward that he’s keeping his value. He’s got that Group 3 win as a three-year-old.

“I think Mr Zhang, Yulong, will be happy. All the owners, they’ll be at home watching and hopefully their jumping and screaming like I just was.”

Winning Jockey: Luke Currie

“It was good. We know he’s got a motor but he probably hasn’t shown that for a little bit but he definitely did today.

“I think Flemington helps him where he can travel around the corner rather than be off the bridle. He’s drawn horrible gates his last few (starts) and hasn’t got close. He was good today where he drew (barrier) one and could pop off outside the leader and have that bunny to follow, and to be on speed and to be able to travel up.”

Guineas: “He was strong today through the line. He took over at the top of the straight. Aysar had every chance to beat him and he was still strong through the line. You’d like to think that he gave you the indication that the mile shouldn’t be a problem. He’s still got to do it but I’d rather win going into it than get beaten going into it.”

Tom Dabernig on runner-up Aysar: “He keeps running second. He flew out the gates and was probably a little closer than we anticipated. He was a bit keen first-up which is why we took the blinkers off. He presented win but he’s a big, heavy colt and I think he’ll be better for the run again.

“Hopefully we’ll have him peaking third-up in the Guineas. But when he ranged up I thought (it was positive) but he’s looked like that now four runs in-a-row.

“He’s a bit tricky. His ‘coltiness’ is probably working against him at the moment. Hopefully now he’s had a couple of runs that’ll take a bit of that freshness out of him and he’ll improve. He might like the mile, too. He really peaked in the Caulfield Guineas and nearly won it. Hopefully it’ll all come to a positive outcome.”
