“Really progressive. We took him up to Swan Hill and we gave him one trial. He’s a colt with a lot of ability and we thought we’d use that as his second trial and give him a bit of confidence.

“Just half a step slow and we thought we’d be a pair (further) forward but he had to loop the field and knuckle forward and I like the way he added that string to his bow.

“He had to come off their backs, off the bit and he stretched really nicely. He’s a colt on the up.”

<Indicated the Coolmore Stakes is the next outing>

“He’s a colt with a pedigree and we’ll see how he comes through the race.”

Winning Jockey: Dean Yendall

Marine One’s ability: “He has (got ability), I think he got sick of it, coming out here today. I think it was his third trip here in a week to have a look around the track. He acquitted himself really well in the race, they really ran along.

“First furlong they stacked it up a little bit. I followed Beaudacity but he wasn’t taking me enough into the race, so I made my own decision to just put him in the race when I needed him to. The rest was history. Galloped on up the straight, he had a bit of a think about it and I gave him the persuader - job’s not over yet buddy and he found the line good.”
