Winning Time: 1:03.47 Last 600m: NA

Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith (Stable rep. Shane Jackson speaking)

On how the race was run: “He mustered speed pretty quick and he’s straight forward - he didn’t have to lead, if he had box seated that was fine. I thought Jye did the right thing and made those on his outside work and made use of the barrier and he was quite impressive, he had a little bit left in the tank at the end.

On the horse coming from WA: “Lindsay always knew that the horse had the ability to come over here and perform well. He came over and worked well but the travel knocked him about a little bit so we gave him a good spell, last prep he ran well and then Lindsay gave him another freshen up with most of November off and he’s come to hand pretty well

Distance limitations: “I think he’ll get 12 (00) maybe 14 (00) at a push but what’s the need when he’s as good as he is and he’s got that tacticat speed that we can use but Lindsay will work out a plan. He was rated 67 before that so he’ll probably go to seventy something so maybe another one of these races and we can claim on him.

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

In the early stages: “It wasn’t ideal, he was in there for a long time obviously and he just reacted really fast but forgot to put his feet down on landing - luckily he mustered up really well and it didn’t affect him at all and the draw helped us a little bit.

Towards the finish: “I felt a little bit vulnerable there at the end but he seemed to just keep going through his gears . He’s got an amazing cruising speed and can quicken off that as well.It was a great team effort , Lindsay has done a really good job and Deane (Lester) found this race for him so a great team effort.
