Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith

“She’s fast so this is her bread and butter stuff so she’ll keep going through the grades and she’s pretty simple to ride to taking three-kilos off her back sort of puts her in the race like a class under all the time. She’s a good little asset to have in the stable.”

More 55 second heats?: “No big targets. If the race falls her way and it’s at Moonee Valley, or Meekatharra, she’ll be there. Whichever race suits her she’ll go in.”

Winning Jockey: Campbell Rawiller

“She’s becoming a little professional now. She’s really got the idea. I’ve got to say a big thank you to Mr Smith and all the connections. They’re a really big influence on Victorian racing with the amount of horses they send and they’re spread across Australia. But there’s a number of them in Victoria. A big thank you to them and for the opportunity.”

On the run: “I was definitely very confident once I got there. She found a race that she was really well placed in tonight and she’s in top order but once I got there she’s come back nicely and I’m really happy the way she’s putting away races. From the first time I rode he she’s kept improving ten-fold and it’s really good to see her coming to town once again and getting the job done.”

On premiership chase: “The important thing is to keep working hard and hopefully the results keep coming.”

Brad Taylor for Sam Freedman on Blue Diamond Preview runners on Tuesday (Sam won’t be at Sandown tomorrow):

Midwest (colt): “He’s had two jump outs at Mornington. He’s a fast horse that’ll put himself right on the speed with the draw. He’ll run really well. He’s not a big, strong colt like an I Am Immortal but he’s fast and he’ll put himself on the speed with those sorts of horses in that sort of race. It can be really suitable for him. He’ll be really competitive.

“Jye McNeil is on him. He rode him on his first jump out so he knows him.”

Frost Flowers (filly): “She’s done really well since her run at Flemington. That has really brought her on. She should be one of the favourites and really hard to beat. Jamie (Kah) stays on her.

Overall feelings on their two-year-olds: “Our top ones, we believe, are good. You’ve seen Forbes - we think he’s right up with the best. Our plan at this stage is to go straight to Sydney with him. He’ll bypass the Blue Diamond at this stage. He’ll trial on Wednesday and then go to Sydney and trial on 11 February. The straight into the Silver Slipper and have two runs into the Golden Slipper. We think he’s of that sort of ability.

“He just needed a couple of weeks out after his run. He pulled up a bit shin sore so we were just going to be pushing for time in the Blue Diamond so we took the patient approach and targetted him for the Slipper. We think he’s very good.”

“A filly you haven’t seen yet but there’s probably plenty to talk about is Argentia. A Frankel filly, she trialled the other day at Sandown. We were going to run her in the 1000 metres race but she just got run off her feet by Dosh and Extreme Warrior. They ran very quick. She’ll trial at Balnarring on Wednesday and we’ll probably run her in the Prelude and try and get into the Blue Diamond that way. Providing she trials well on Wednesday she’s a filly that we’ve got a good opinion of.”
