“Karen, Jamie’s mum, said to us ‘let’s go down to Tassie and try and buy a horse. My uncle ‘Rocket’ actually picked him out. It’s been a good family story. We’ve had him a long time now and he’s had a heap of preparations. He’s shown us nice ability at home but he’s a lazy sort of horse and that’s why the blinkers went on today. It’s good to see him do what he did.

“I think he had his first jump out nearly eight months ago. I actually wanted to run him in one of the first two-year-old races but decided to give him some time. He’s a very raw sort of horse but he’s come back well this prep, his trial was good and I thought he improved on whatever he did there.

“He’s shown us glimpses of nice ability but he’s so lazy at trackwork. He won’t even do even time sometimes. Very frustrating. He’s probably not 100% fit but it was good to see him do what he did the other day.”

What’s next: “We’ll let the dust settle.I’ve got a nice enough opinion of him so I might tip him out and bring him back for the spring.”

First metro winner: “First city winner and my second runner at Flemington. Good result. Second two-year-old runner and the team is going well. The team is gone for the week now. We’ll have a quiet week next week maybe a couple of sleep-ins.

“We’ve got a nice bunch of horses. The main thing is there’s no viruses through the stable. We’re looking after them and they’re nice and healthy and all very sound.”

Winning Jockey: Luke Nolen

“We saw his trial, he’s done everything in a professional manner and with the blinkers on, he can probably be a bit lazy at home without them. What I saw of the trial was very professional and he went a long way in that tial on the bridle and that put him in good stead for today.

Confidence in the run: “They can get a bit lost here with the breeze in their face with inexperienced juveniles but he handled it very well. He’s been well trained up for this. They do well at their place, Jamie and Clayton.

“I was the lucky recipient of the ride with Jamie on a sojourn in Adelaide.
