“Fantastic. We’ve known Jamie for a long time and it was pretty unfair when we used to have her riding around Balaklava and Strathalbyn on a Wednesday on our horses. That was brilliant.

“He (Deep Speed) was getting a bit tired late but I think he lifted for her. That was fantastic.”

“He’s a big, gross horse and there’s a lot of improvement to come. There’s a 1200 (metre event) coming up in two weeks, we’ll go there, and he’s a horse that you’ll see through the spring.”

On Kah: “Horses travel for her. She doesn’t overthink it or bust them. That is probably the key. She’s a talented horsewoman, I think that’s the main thing and being a good jockey comes after it.

“She doesn’t let a lot of things get to her. She might let this get to her a bit, as she should. She should be proud of what he’s done.”

On getting the ride: “It is just how it worked out with Luke (Currie) having that tumble and things like that.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

“Big relief. It’s been a very, very long week. I’ve had some really good people around me getting me through it. It’s a big relief today and to do it for Tony & Calvin.

“They’ve been such big supporters of my career. We’ve had lots of arguments and disagreements on the way through but they’ve supported me from day one and to get it on their horse is very special.

“I’m not the one for crowds and people cheering my name, it’s very foreign to me still. Wednesday was unbelievable to see that many people at Sandown. Today everyone and all the kids with signs, it’s very special.

Last Wednesday at Sandown: “I’ve gone to the races with a better book of rides and not got a winner but  the pressure afterwards was ridiculous in my mind. I couldn’t really believe it.

“The next few days were tough. I thought I had a good book of rides today and it was going to be a pretty bad day if I didn’t get it.”

Long last 50 metres: “It was. I was hearing the crowd and getting goosebumps over the line. It was pretty special so thank you to everyone for coming.”

Brett Prebble finishing behind her: “I said he’s going to have to try harder next year.”

Did she see the Herald Sun front page: “I told myself that I’ll have to get it after the races. I wasn’ going to touch it today. I didn’t want to see my face anywhere else. I’ll get it after the races.

Season special moment: “There’s plenty. A few of those Group 1 wins were special. Nature Strip was probably one of the biggest ones, but just then that was very special.

Family not at Caulfield: “I told them not to come. I didn’t want them to jinx me.”
