Winning Trainer: Ken and Kasey Keys (Ken interviewed)

“He’s been great all prep. Today, I’ve got to say the Teo rode it a treat. He pulled out at the right time, grabbed hold early enough. The horse has been going really well and has probably got to the age where he can be the right horse. Pretty happy.

On Nugent’s ride: “He owed me one.”

Winning Jockey: Teodore Nugent

“That was my second ride on this horse now and we probably should have won when I rode him first-up at Sandown going back three or four months ago. It was great to repay Kenny with a winner and I’m happy that he put me back on.”

“Kenny is great to ride for. He keeps a low level. Also his daughter, Casey. I’ve had a few rides for them and been unlucky.”

On the run: “When the race came off at the half-mile to 600 metres, they really slowed up. We were in a position to make our move. He’s not a sit and sprint horse by any means and we just allowed him to flow in. He got to the front quite early and I know he only has a little sprint in him but the way the momentum he had was going quite well. I know the pace coming off made it a bit tricky but he took me to the front and said goodbye to the rest of them.”
