“I ran second in this race twice and I was really happy with this horse coming through Pakenham and he was huge odds. He (Gordon) rode him brilliantly and he was too good.
“Just being here is one thing alone. Being here and walking around and talking to people I’ve known for years. Then to have this horse to give us something to celebrate, it’s great.
“Everything has gone along perfectly and I’m so happy to be here again.
“Going to Pakenham I thought he was a good thing and Ciaron’s horse went out as favourite and beat us so that was a bit disappointing. Just to have him here today in this sort of race, like this, and to win like he did is a great effort from everybody - myself, Kylie, Tyler, everyone else involved, and WIll Gordon. He rode the horse great. He did something I couldn’t do.”

“Unbelievable. I just wanted to get a winner more for Scotty and the family. They must have been through a tough time recently and just a massive credit to the whole family. Scotty for bouncing back, Kylie for picking up the pieces, Tyler and just everyone back at home who supported them. Unbelievable.
“It was a race that I couldn’t really work out on paper what was going to happen so I said to Scotty before I went out that I wouldn’t mind snagging back from that gate and save ground following the fancies in the race - Steve (Pateman, Saunter Boy), Clayton (Douglas, The Midnight Shift).
“Scotty, being the true champion, said you just do what you want, mate.”
Crowd reaction when the horse came through on the fence: “Unbelievable. I knew Steve’s horse was jumping out alright so I thought I’d just bide my time here and cut up on the inside. Geez he was strong late.
“My second feature race (win) but this one is at the top.”
