“Didn’t look that promising early but he kept building into it and he was fantastic.”

What’s next: “We were thinking of going to Ballarat for the 1400 metre VOBIS Gold race but it might be a big ask fronting up today after the run on such a heavy track.

“He’s a pretty laid back character. He’s a hard horse to get a guide on so I think it’s going to be a matter of racing him and seeing where he gets to.”

The day: “It’s good to get out and see people, to me honest. We’ve all been out at these meetings with no one to chat to so it’s good to see people back at the races.”

Winning Jockey: Michael Dee

The track: “With me coming back from the field it seems to be playing evenly but I think the fittest horse and the one that handles it the best is the winner today.”

The horse: “Most of the way I was struggling and coming to the turn I really had to get into him. It wasn’t until we graduated to the outside and won comfortably.”
