“The way he relaxed today. Off a slow tempo he relaxed beautifully. Obviously relished the going.

“I’m really happy for the team back home. They’ve done a great job with this horse. He’s a very hard horse to train.

“I must thank my apprentice Sheridan Clark who rides the horse in all his trackwork. She’ll be rapt. He’s just a very highly strung horse, very nervous and needs lots of loving.

Training on hills: “Yes definitely. He’s done all his pre-work up there and he’ll go back after the race. He just loves being freshened up between races and I’m sure he’ll win more.

“Hopefully we can progress him to a Saturday at some stage.”

“It was a query whether he’d get through the Heavy 10 but Phillip was pretty confident he would and boy did he let rip on it. Once he sprinted I knew he’d put a gap on them.

“It’s nice to have that sprint there to have a look at them.”
