Winning Trainer: Amy & Ash Yargi (Ash speaking)

“Amy bought this horse for $20,000 and he’s still racing at this age quite consistently. But as you all know he’s a hard horse to catch. He needs a lot of luck to go his way and he got that luck today with a good ride.

“He’s got some knockers. He’s one of those horses that you look at and see when he runs on hard you want to back him next start and then doesn’t get the job done. He just needs everything to line up and go his way but when it does he’s very effective.

“He got the nice run through them and last time Jye rode him he nearly won on him a couple of years ago. I was very confident when we put Jye on today and congratulations to him, too. Nice ride.

“He’s had a tough campaign, this horse. We sent him up to Sydney and he ran there with a week back-up and then two weeks into this. He’s a tough animal. He can race consistently in the city for us and we’re very happy to have him.”

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

“It all fell into place really well for him today. He let down on a beautiful surface and when it all comes together he’s very capable of winning nice races and he deserved that one today.

“I think the key was a low pressure race. He did it comfortably rather than chasing. I was able to get onto the back of Zakat and I knew he would take us into the race.”
