Jamie Kah to the fore: “She showed her patience and poise. It was a little bit worrying when we saw that leader out in front by so far (Fundraiser) but he was most likely going to come back to them and she just took her time and did what was most important to the horse getting him to settle and travel.

“Ideally he had the perfect run into it, cruising, and had to fight in the finish a little bit. He certainly showed his grit and determination.”

Confidence: “Just getting the win for him. We saw last prep that once he got the win on the board he then raced consistently. Having to chase down that horse has no doubt done him the world of good fitness-wise. He’ll improve into his next one.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

“There was (a lot of work required) but with that tempo today he relaxed beautifully, he was never going to throw his head or overrace. I was a little bit worried but I thought I had enough horse underneath me. I was more surprised that Holbien picked up and really challenged him late.

“He had to show today that he was tough and not just a nice horse with a turn-of-foot so I was really happy that he showed his versatility.

“I had a lot to do with him early days and I thought he was a really nice horse. Had a lot of issues with his head getting him to settle and getting him right which he has shown getting him to his form. Getting him to settle over further is just going to be better and better for him.”

Kah on beaten favourite Quantum Mechanic earlier: “I think she was disappointing. I think of the three times I’ve ridden her the best time was when we got cover and she was unlucky. So I think that riding her on speed is probably not the way to go at the minute with her.”
