“He was a little unlucky (in Adelaide). One just flew through on the inside and got him late. He ate up that night and so we thought we’d have another stab.

“He was a little bit way out there and I thought he was going to finish fifth but he just kept coming. Great ride by Daniel Moor and put him in a perfect position.

“He’s got a nom for the JJ Atkins so we may look at that in a couple of weeks time and take it from there.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor

“I said to the owners pre-race that we had the benefit of race experience and speed out of the gates. We thought we’d roll forward and we had the fitness on our side, had tactical speed, and these two-year-old races can be tricky to settle and sort out but I ended up in a beautiful controlling spot.

“We hit a bit of a flat spot but rallied good late. I think he’s the fittest horse in the race and ran the trip right out. He’s probably looking for further. Straightening up I thought we were going to win quite easily with a bit in hand but he just took a furlong to ride him through it. The strongest part of the race was the last 80 metres.

“He’ll train on to three (year old)  and he’ll get a mile plus. That bodes well for the future.”
