Winning Trainer: Chris Waller (rep by Jo Taylor)

“I think last start he cost himself there. I think it (this) should have been his second win for the preparation but the way he did it today at least he made up for it.”

MV liking: “With a horse like him, he is what he is so we just try and keep him interested. He’s a fit horse that has been racing in good form. We like bringing him here to gallop as well and to give him a change of scenery.

“We do a little bit of dressage, do a little bit of jumping here and there. Just keep him interested and that seems to be working out well for him.”

What’s next: “Nothing is off the table but I’m sure Chris will have a look at those types of races (like a Kilmore Cup). If he’s in such good form, you never know.”

Winning Jockey: Craig Williams

Fast pace: “He thought they were going too slow for his liking.

“He’s been racing really well and I was disappointed last time when we came away with second and not a win. I thought I outsmarted him and he outsmarted me. I saw Steven Arnold yesterday and he said that the horse was in good order.

“He really rode a hectic pace against some real staying types. He was very solid late.”

Tribute to Ricky Thurgood: “We had Jockeys Celebration Day a couple of weeks ago highlighting the great contribution that riders past, present and future make for this industry. I’d like to pass on my condolences to the Thurgood family. It’s a tragedy but Ricky was surely a fighter.

“To make 41 years and they didn’t think he’d make the first night, so sending love and prayers to the Thurgood family.”
