Winning Trainer: Danny O’Brien (Ben Gleeson interviewed)

“She’s a filly that has had a long time between runs. We’ve always had a query whether she goes past 1100 (metres) but today she stuck it out. A huge credit to this filly. She’s as tough as nails, she’s been through a lot in the last six months and it is a huge credit to the team at Barwon Heads.

“There’s no gear on her now and she seems to be playing it better than ever. We’ll just work our way through the winter. There’s another fillies and mares race back here in a month, a benchmark 90, is her next target.

“And maybe she can go into the early part of the spring fit. Whether she keeps racing or stuck beckons, we’ll just have to play it by year and hopefully there’s a few more wins through winter.”

Winning Jockey: Damian Lane

“She began cleanly, there was good speed and got a nice drop in behind them. I just said that we had to be patient and wait for the run (and) when it came she was just too good.

“She’s really worked well leading into this. She’s a good fresh horse. I didn’t let her off the bridle in her previous jump out. She felt to me like she was ready to go and the O’Brien camp are very good at their caper and it’s a pleasure to be on-board.

“Although I had to be patient she could probably be ridden with a touch more patience again. She’s got a short sprint and when I saw the run I saw the winning post and her eyes lit up. Probably could have ridden her a bit kinder for another fifty (metres) she might have hit the line better.

“In saying that the soft track and first-up she probably felt the pinch a bit, too. Lovely horse going places.”
