Winning Trainer: John Moloney

“Once he got that running position in front and we weren’t taken on I was feeling a bit more comfortable.

“When Linda got him to relaxed midway I thought ‘lets gets the finish done’ but it’s not over to you get to that line.”

Meech being good on frontrunners: “You see a lot of young riders thinking ‘oh I’m going a bit quick I’ve got to stop here’ and they lose it for that reason but she never loses it.

“I looked back through the field and he was actually travelling. I’ve been pretty happy with him and he was in good order to run well.”

What’s next: “We might have to give him a run around Flemington and see if he can do a job around there.”

Versatile: “At Mornington he’s run well. Even at Caulfield, Sandown, doesn’t matter, he runs well.”

Going well at the moment: “I said to my lads the other day that I was a bit worried that some of my three-year-old haven’t stepped out and done much yet but I think all the older horses are holding up the bargain.”

Winning Jockey: Linda Meech

“Yeah things are going good, I couldn’t be happier really. I’m not riding as much as I used to but I’m riding just as many winners which is great.”

Decision to return to riding in the city:“Yeah a big thankyou to Will Clarken and Lachie Weekley for giving me the kick in the bum to get to town, without them I wouldn’t be here.”

“A big shout out to John (Moloney), I begged him for the ride on this horse again after last start, he (Imperial Lad) tricked me at Caulfield and I was onto him tonight.”
