Winning Trainer: Wendy Kelly

“He’s just an exciting horse going forward. He sort of put the writing on the wall a couple of times and things haven’t gone quite right for him. His run at Bendigo was huge, this run at Flemington just had no cover and overdid things a little bit. But to see him do it here tonight was very exciting.

Genuine Saturday horse: “Definitely. From when we first got him to what he is now, he’s bigger, stronger, he’s developed and absolutely loving racing.”

Jason Maskiell good record on the horse and a supporter: “Jason’s a great guy. Does a lot of riding for us, comes down and does trials, does the hard yards. To be able to reward him with rides like this is great.”

What’s next: “He’s not a horse you back up too quickly so he’s probably two or three weeks away from his next run. We’ll have a look around, maybe a Listed race, perhaps?”

Winning Jockey: Jason Maskiell

“He nearly dropped me into the crowd before the race when a couple of the boys (over the fence) threw a beer in the air.

“Wendy Kelly, she was one of the first people to ring me when I had the fall, and Kevin Payne the owner, he messaged me as well. They’re fantastic to ride for and to reward them (is great).

“That was the first thing I said to them, I love the horse and after I fell off I said I’m riding him on Saturday but they wouldn’t let me. I love him and it’s good because my wife, my mum and stepdad are all here, and my little son, it’s all special.”

On the horse: “He’s definitely a Saturday horse. He’s just got a really explosive turn-of-foot when you ask him, he’s got a good 250 metre dash. But the thing that doesn’t work, or works against him is his racing pattern. He likes to be smothered up and let out late like - doesn't like to get exposed early. When everything falls in his place he’s a very nice horse. I like him a lot.”
