“Playoffs had a little pull in the weights on Fanciful Toff and a lot nicer draw today so great to get a win for Jonathan Munz and the fellow owners. He has been building and I think the team have done a really good job.

“Johnny (Allen) knows him well and he put the writing on the wall last start.”

<Suggested that horses like these will just tick through the grades in winter>

“The inside is definitely no disadvantage or even a little advantageous. Fanciful Toff, he’s a really genuine horse and was probably a bit stiff there. Both horses really try hard.

Fanciful Toff: “He’s in really good form and the owners were here today and they were cheering today. He’s racing in great heart.”

Winning Jockey: John Allen

“Initially I thought I might box seat behind Fanciful Toff and Coin Collector but when Teo (Nugent) handed up the lead to Damian, I thought that I’d roll forward. I thought it’d be a slowly run race so I didn't want to be caught three-back the fence.

“He travelled nicely. Into the straight I was aware of Fanciful Toff getting off my back so I didn’t want to get going too early and judged it just right. Another centimetre or two and I might’ve got it wrong.

“We drew a bad gate last time but he ran on well. Not winning last time meant he had a good weight advantage over the runner-up which worked in his favour today.”

<Teo Nugent since asked by stewards why he handed up the lead. Said that instructions were to gain cover with mapped leader scratched but in hindsight should have led with slow tempo.>
