Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace (Dave speaking)

“He was great. He’s an absolute legend, this horse. We love him. He’s an older horse and the staff have kept him up and going over a number of years and the owners are here. A good result and he deserved that.

“He’s a credit to keeping older horses going. It is the best he’s looked and the soundest he’s been the whole way through. We’ll keep him ticking over. He’s obviously pretty fit now and there’s a lot of nice race for him culminating in the VOBIS Gold race on 17 April.

“A little tilt at the Warrnambool Cup might be a ‘squeak’ as well.

“It was the right result today. He really deserved it, the old boy.”

Saunter Boy: “Saunter Boy was great. We thought he’d be forward and fit enough. He’s done plenty of work down at Fingal and he’s in for a really good campaign over jumps. You’ll see him at Warrnambool.”

Playoffs: “Ran well. Got a bump on the turn. He’s not an overly big horse so that would have put pay to his chances a bit.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

“I can see why he’s popular. He’s a jockey’s dream out there. He settles, relaxes and when you push the button he goes. It was just that simple today.

“I knew early that if I put a bit of pressure on that they were going to stretch out so I could slot in. the horse came back to me straight away which won him the race at that point. He relaxed, he breathed. Some of the other horses do it a bit too hard in the race, like Starcaster, and it ended up super for him.”

** CAULFIELD NEXT SATURDAY - TWO GODOLPHIN RUNNERS - SEAN KEOGH **

Easter Cup - Munitions: “He had one run last spring and a trial since. Every year we get one or two imports and after the success with Hartell and Avilius, he’s another to come along (French import).

“Munitions came in the crop before the latest of our imports. He’s a horse that hasn’t acclimatised to Australian conditions as quickly as some of the others have. A lot of his french racing was on straight tracks so getting used to the tempo here, and taking couple of preps to get comfortable - unlike horses like Avilius and Best Of Days who really got into the system quickly - he’s just a horse that is taking time.

Asked if a horse like him is a ‘problem’ for an operation like theirs: “Not really. He’s still an entire so that brings difficulties with it. It is just all about getting used to the pattern of Australian racing.”

“It looks a suitable race for him.”

2yo Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes - Sliders: “She came to Melbourne about ten days ago and trialled yesterday. Jamie Kah was on-board in the trial and around Flemington she trialled really nicely. We like her chances.

“She just had the one run this time in in the Reisling (G2, 1200m) in Sydney and this is a good trip for her.

“She’s by Street Boss and a half-sister to Flit.”

Asked which is his favourite sire at the moment - Street Boss or Frosted: “Oh I think Frosted has something about it. There’s something flashy about the name and flashy about the horses he’s producing and he seems to be the one at the minute.”

<Frostin’ (Frosted) looked good when placing in Race 3 Gold Rush today>

Jamie Kah thoughts after trial yesterday: “Very smart filly. I went there for her. I really liked her after I trialled her and I think if she can relax a bit more then she’s got a big future.”
