Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace (Eustace speaking)

The start of the week: “Hasn’t been great viewing, watching the first ball (Ashes test) and surrounded by Australians but I’m going over to Adelaide so I’m hoping it’s a different story next week.

The win: “He (Josh Richards) sums things up really quickly. We wanted him to ride him quietly but he didn’t get any cover and he just let him slide and got into a good rhythm at mid-race and that allowed him to finish off. Delighted for the owners a lot have been with us since we took over and we;’ve had a frustrating time with a lot of seconds but when we put this horse to them saying we thought we could get some nice results and it’s a shame they’re not here.

Summer Sprint series: “We’ll look for another benchmark race for him next, 1200 looks to be his trip, he’s a genuine Summer horse, he likes fast ground and he should be able to poke through the grades and if things progress then we can look at a nice race. They’re lotteries these races and not easy to win

Winning Jockey: Josh Richards

On the win: “He did want to lay in a little bit toward the finish. He jumped and I was happy to let them go, but he picked the bridle up and came into it really nicely with the blinkers back on. The team has done a super job.”
