“We’ve had a big week. At Bendigo we had two wins and two second on Wednesday. Thursday a winner, Friday a winner. Nothing yesterday.

“She’s very consistent. Only beaten 0.4 (of a length) last start and the quick back-up over 8 days, she’s a big strong mare, too.

“She can be a little bit funny. She can be a bit funny in the tie-ups (when) trying to get the bridle on her but she settled down in the mounting yard. She was really good.”

Quirks and spirit can be a recipe for success: “Definitely with the good ones. I’m not sure whether Mathew has got Adelaide pencilled in for her. I’m sure there’s some black type races for her in the next few weeks.”

Importance of Daniel Moor: “He’s gone really well since he came back from Singapore. He’s ridden for us very, very well.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor

“She’s really very honest. She’s never run a bad race. I probably got sucked into giving her a squeeze from a good gate last start but I said to the guys today - and Mat was in agreeance - I’ll just have confidence in her.

“She’s got a good turn-of-foot when she’s smothered up and cuddled. She’d had enough on the line today with the back-up. She was still tough.

“She used to be quite naughty in the gates but I just get on her and let her do her thing now and bowl around on the buckle on her. Don’t argue with women, don’t get in trouble.“

Carlton fan - disappointed with last night: “I took my boy to under 12s this morning and got a thrashing by 36 points. St Bernards Juniors aren’t much better. Lift your games, lads.”
