“Fantastic effort. I think leading into this run she’d had a couple of softish runs and she had a tough last time but that really brought her on.

“She’s a tough filly, a homebred. I’ve given her plenty of time. There’s a good story but I’ll tell you over a few drinks.”

What’s next: “That’s a $64 million question but I’ll take her home. How many times do you go to the well? She’s a highly strung filly but lightly raced and I’m sort of treating this as her first prep.

“If I look after her there’ll hopefully be some black type for her. Do I put her out now for the spring? I’ll just have a think about it.”

Winning Jockey: Craig Newitt

What he learnt from previous rides on her: “Don’t pull the trigger too early. She surprised me today how good she let down.

“She hit the front about the 300 metre mark and ducked in on my so I was a bit wary to not hit the front too early today. She stepped a little bit slow bit she’s getting better.

“Her natural pattern is always going to be to settle out the back and do no work. She’s pretty sensible during the run. She was going to win a long way out today.

“I don’t think you’d want to go much further past a mile because they’ll probably go a bit too slow for her but while she’s in a race where there’s tempo up front, for a highly strung horse she settles well during the run.

“She’s got a really good turn-of-foot and she was very good today.”
