Winning Trainer: Anthony & Sam Freedman (Brad Taylor interviewed)

“He’s a horse that’s got a good amount of ability but he’s been an absolute nightmare, to put it straight. Jamie seemed to click with him. She rode him well at Caulfield and rated him really well.

“We said ‘just be positive on him and her him into a good rhythm and let him roll’ and she did that. The corner was the concern. He didn’t get around Caulfield the other day and he didn’t get around there (here) very well but he toughed it out and showed his talent.

“He can stay. He’s a horse that’s got good staying ability. I knew he’d keep fighting and not give it in. Jamie was strong on him late and it was good to see him get his nose in front.

“He was a nightmare when we were trying to get him to settle. Watching Mark Zahra after a few go’s on him last preparation he came back in and said ‘no more of me on this horse’, so Jamie seems to click with him and that might be the way to ride him - just let him roll along in front.

“I know his brother in Europe, they changed his style in Europe to do the same and he resulted in winning a couple of nice races so hopefully we can do the same with this guy.”

Getting even further: “He’ll get further. That is what he was bought for. We’ll just pick and choose a few nice races for him over there. He’s deep into the preparation but holding his condition well and racing well. There’s no reason why we won’t press on and hopefully there’s a nice race for him at Flemington on the nice, big track.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

“He brought his best ‘foot’ today and actually for him his attitude was super. Normally he’s a very hard to manage horse. He brought his best behaviour today.

When Playoffs made an early move: “I was actually rapt. The first furlong he dropped the bit and I thought this might be a really nice race for him. As soon as Will (Price) put the pressure on him he was never going to settle. So I just let him slide. He still wasn’t in a comfy rhythm but he was steady enough and he was too good today.”

On the turn: “I thought it was never going to be fun getting around Moonee Valley. He did a good job on on the home turn when he was on tired legs he just wanted to get out. Probably helped that we had a horse on the outside to keep us straight. Once he straightened up he really found again. The team has got him manageable now and if they can keep him like this then he’ll win another couple (of races).
