“He’s a progressive horse and the bar keeps getting raised and he keeps delivering. He was impressive today.

“Teo is doing a really good job on him as well.”

Next: “The trip will be interesting one with him. He’s obviously got some form over further as well so something like the Coongy and the Ballarat Cup at the end of the carnival will be a nice race to target as well.

“There’ll be plenty of options for him and we’ll sit down with the team and have a chat to the owners as well.

“I think I was in the right place at the right time last time to pick him up. He’s a lovely progressive stayer, this horse, and coming here today it mapped well.

“He never felt like he was going to get beaten.

“He was bolting underneath me and I didn’t want to check his momentum at any stage. Approaching the 600 (metre mark) he actually took me where he wanted to go.

“I was happy to go with him. He’s a big horse with a big stride and I didn’t want to check his momentum but the way he put them away today it was quite a big deal and it would be lovely to stick with him.

“I just wanted to work with him. He’s a big bold horse, he’s a big strider. He’s quite a hard horse to work with at trackwork and today if I was to check his stride I thought I didn’t want to, but when we pressed the button at the 200 (metre mark) he put them away.

“I couldn’t fault him.”
