Winning Trainer: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr (Michael Kent Jnr speaking)

“Perfect first-up run. John Allen, he had short notice to get down to the weight. He gave me a nice bit of packing, which was great and he gave him the perfect ride.

“Didn’t have a hard run early, they went along at a good clip. The second horse had a very light weight. The horse is a winner, he knows where the line is and he loves to win.

“It was a low key kick-off. We’ve got a long way to go and couldn’t be more delighted with how it went today.”

What’s next towards Golden Eagle: “Mick and I didn’t think it (Rupert Clark) was the right race. He mightn’t have the rating to get into the race. So The Sofitel in a couple of weeks might be the light option. We’ll see how he pulls up but rapt to get him back into the winners’ stall. He’s very exciting.”

Winning Jockey: John Allen

“He didn’t step super today. We thought he might step a bit better and be a bit closer, but they rolled along at a good tempo (and) we were able to slot in there midfield.  He relaxed beautiful.

“Just had to pop out and make a run a bit wider around the home bend but once he straightened up and got into his stride - it takes a bit of time to get into that top gear - but he kept extending and was really striding out good through the line.

“He’s got high cruising speed, a big stride and able to use his action and really builds into his race.

“He’s still quite raw and there’s improvement there. He’s certainly on the right track.”
