Winning Trainer: David Brideoake (rep by Matt Jenkins)

“It’d been a little while between drinks with him but he had been racing really well without winning and the way the race was run seemed to suit.

“We freshened him up to bring him back for wet tracks. The Swan Hill Cup might be on the cards and David picked this race out along the way as a stepping stone. Whatever he’s done today has been a bonus.

“He won’t want (it too) firm. There is a race the day before over 1800 metres at Sandown which could be wet so we’ll just pick whatever is wetter and weaker.”

Winning Jockey: Billy Egan

“I just got a beautiful cart off Surreal Image. I thought we went a nice hollow gallop but really in rhythm and they were just in a good zone and travelled well. When I peeled off his back I let him build his momentum and he hit his top gear and really held on to it.”

Being closer to the rail: “The way the races have been run and the way that one has been run, I think it does suit but he’s a horse that likes to do it tough. The only times I have won on him he’s done it the tough way. He’s run his best races like that as well.”
