“Very strong stayer. Found it a little surprising that I couldn’t secure a rider but I was pleased that I got the Melbourne Cup-winning rider on him. We’ve said if he wins this race then we’ll let him ride him in the Melbourne Cup if he wants.

“The plan has always been to be a St Leger horse but I’ll talk to Jye - that was his first ride on him. He’ll go to the Galilee Final at Caulfield but it won’t be the right track for him. He likes a big spacious track. Then we’ll assess it from there.”

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

“Really well prepared by Cindy and her team. Stepping up from 1600 metres to 2200 metres today, I think it’s a very good training effort.

“We had a really nice run throughout. Got a little bit keen on me at about the mile mark when one rushed forward around me. I was a little bit worried at that stage but he ended up coming back underneath me and really turned it into a staying contest from the 600 metre mark and he seems a nice stayer on the up.”

Can the horse get further: “I think there’s still improvement there with the quick step up in distance so there’ll be no problems getting further in the future as he gets fitter and more seasoned.”
