“I asked Damien before the race how his day had gone and he said he’d won one and three seconds. I said ‘hopefully we can get another one under your belt’.

“Great ride. Just had her in a nice rhythm. We thought she’d be a bit further back than that but we left if up to Damien and that’s why he’s one of the best and got the result at the end of the day and everyone is going home happy.

“She just needed a good spell. She’s in great order. She’s carrying a lot of condition. She’s probably more mature now and the race was run to suit her. Even though she was three-deep she was in a nice rhythm and flowed along.

“After straightening I thought she was going to finish the race off and once Ollie put a couple on her she really stretched out and looked like she was going to win it a long way out.

“It’s good to get her back in form and hopefully she can continue it. If she finds the right race and the right running, she’s not far out of a chance. It worked out today.

“Even though it looked ugly and she was three-deep she was in a nice rhythm, the tempo wasn’t hard and she had a bit in the tank and finished it off.”

On Cassius: “I thought his run was solid from where he was. Had a lovely ride. Poked up there, one came across on him so he had to go back inside the eventual winner but he looks like he’s not far off a winner.”

Winning Jockey: Damien Oliver

“It was nice to get a win on her. She’s been consistent but hasn’t always had the best of luck and didn’t really get it today. She toughed it out well. It was good to see her get a win.

“I thought halfway up the straight I wasn’t going to catch them, I was battling, but I could see the leaders just folding up a little bit late so I thought I’m still in here with a shout so I gave her one and she responded for me.”
