“We had a lot of confidence today. She’s a high quality horse and has furnished from last prep. She’s grown up mentally and more so physically.

“I think she’s a horse (where) she was a little bit soft there. She needed to have the cuddle ride and then be produced. I thought she would have the turn-of-foot and she should progress from there.

“We were happy to take the overs last night and when she got the blows today we were happy to take that, too.”

What’s next: “We’ll let the dust settle but I think there’s a race in Adelaide for her but I was thinking Brisbane. A bit of sun on her back will be good for her and good for me. I think 1400 metres would be ideal for her. She just travelled that bit easier and those big tracks up there will suit her.”

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

“A little bit concerning when she had to get tested out by the vets behind the gates. She just got a fright and lunged formed and made contact with the gate. Thankfully she didn’t do any damage.

“She was still able to get away from the barriers effectively enough. We got into a nice position cuddled away from the wind and she took care of the rest.

“I was in two minds whether to get onto the back of Diamondesque who was three-wide making her run at the 600 (metre mark) because I thought at that stage that I’d be able to make my run whenever I wanted but I was able to save a little bit more ground and get on the back of Garvoc and when I came off her back she let down fantastic.”
