“He’s teased and he’s teased and he’s finally delivered. Really thrilled for his big ownership group, they’ve stuck solid with him and usually a few of them come but they can’t be here today and great to see him break through.

“I think you’d go a long, long way to see a better ride than what Harry Coffey gave that horse. He just had him flowing beautifully and got all the luck at the top of the straight. To his credit he was good and strong with the horse but the winkers also probably helped. Good solid win.”

709 days since last win: “It doesn’t always click straight away with those imports but it has today and he’s a horse who’s got plenty of ability so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win again.”

Won in Australian Prostate Centre colours: “Great to see those colours cross the line. It’s a great cause and we’re certainly pleased to play our little part in it.”

Winning Jockey: Harry Coffey

“I couldn’t have asked for it to have worked out any better. When you watch the race again you’ll say that the path he plotted, he couldn’t have asked for it any better and that’s what happened.

“I think the horse has been battling to win a race but when he gets onto quick ground and the race pans out like it did today, he can be quite dynamic and that’s what he did. He probably got there and waited a little bit but I think he’s got a lot of ability and hopefully he gets some confidence from that and can go on now.”

Coffey doing more work with Lindsay Park: “Yes, going forward hopefully we can put some more wins together but they’ve got a lot of horses and it’s good to be involved with stables who have high quality horses and lots of them.

“Good to get a couple of wins (after Ballarat yesterday too) and this time of year it gives fellas like myself a bit more of an opportunity in town and you have to grab it by the horns and make the most of it. That we did and thanks to Biometric, he put on a great display today.”

“This time of year all the horses are in their right grades and there’s a lot of claiming apprentices (about) so if they get the right runs in front they’re hard to catch. But I was middle to back but with the right ground I was able to get the right run.”

Phillip Stokes on Mr Quickie in the Stradbroke next Saturday: “I’m happy with my horse. I think the weight is good. He’s very fresh and happy and he knows that track and that way of going so he’ll go up there in good order.

Has been going around in ‘easier’ races the last couple worked in his favour: “I think so. He’s still got a little way to go. He’s got to travel up there and all of those things. As long as he travels up there (well) he’ll run well.

Not likely Stokes will be able to be there: “It’s looking a little suss, isn’t it.”

<Asked if he was relieved to see Ayrton beaten today but said that he hadn’t seen the race. Not discounting that he is a good horse though.>
