Did he know she was that good: “No, not really. That was pretty impressive. To be honest we were a little bit concerned leading into the run. She had probably been slightly less explosive at home and probably just being an older mare she’s grown up a little but and done a lot of her work on wet tracks.

“You don’t expect a horse to do that in any race but she was very impressive.

“She’s always taken a long time to get fit. She’s a burly filly, takes plenty of work and Greg Perry who bred her will be absolutely delighted.

“Thanks to him he’s not in any rush so we’ve been patient. The team have done an excellent job with her at home. She has a few issues with her feet, she’s trained barefoot down at Fingal and that really suits her too.

“We can make a serious plan for a prep now that she’s gone and done that.”

Next: “There’s quite a nice sprint series, there’s a listed race on Boxing Day at Caulfield so she’ll probably head there. Whether she has a run in between, we’ll see, I’d say probably not. We’ve got races like the Standish as well in the New Year.

“We’ll get her home and have a chat with Greg as well and go from there.”

Winning Jockey: Ben Allen

“Her first prep she was very well placed. She was still winning well but she wasn’t winning much and I wasn’t getting my hopes up too high.

“Today, I wasn’t expecting that. I did her first two trials this time in. Her first one I thought was good. The second one I was a bit disappointed but she’s a pretty serious race day horse and that’s the best feeling she’s given me.

“She’s got good speed and puts herself there and takes luck out of the equation.

“I used her good early speed to our advantage and once she got to her near side leg coming around the corner she really kicked into gear and really motored away.

“She’s just been very placed and she’s going through her grades but she can only win and the way she has been going she has been dominant. Every race she steps up in she still seems to be blowing them away.

“Be good to see where she’s at.”
