“He was really good. He was a little fresh and I think he was a tiny bit slow away because of that. He’s got that really good pick up speed and got himself into a good commanding position. Mark (Zahra) did the rest from there and he won convincingly.

“Obviously the wet tracks are to his advantage.”

Since the Blue Diamond: “He had a nice little break. That was his first preparation. I think he’s still got a bit more to go. I think he’s a bit willowy at the moment for him. He was a bit chunkier when he was in the Blue Diamond so he’s grown a bit.

“Whatever he does this preparation he should continue to improve. Hopefully there’s still something more left for him.”

What’s next: “He won’t have a run now for a while. He might go to a race at Moonee Valley and then if he goes well there we’ll look at a stakes race there.”

Winning Jockey: Mark Zahra

The track: “It always feels better when you win, but I think it is a genuine (Soft) 7.”

On the horse: “I was going to play it out how he jumped. He’s a really professional racehorse. He canters to the gates fine, stands there as quiet as a lamb and pings them. I was happy to take it (the lead) up.

“He led, he was able to come back underneath me and when I asked him for an effort he put pay to them in the straight.”
