Winning Trainer: Chris Waller (Jo Taylor interviewed)

“He’s obviously a horse coming off a last start victory so we were coming here with some confidence. He certainly seems progressive. It wasn’t exactly the easiest task for him today. Michael had to weave a few different paths but got him into clear running at the right time and there was enough for him to get to the line and get up.

“At the top of the straight I thought he was going so well but there’s nowhere for him to go but based on what he’s shown us you’d think the ability is there and if the breaks came at the right time he’d be able to respond abily and quite quickly and put himself into the race. He doesn’t take too long or become too dour.”

Winning Jockey: Michael Walker

My plan was, even though I’d drawn a good gate, I wanted to be closer but I had to push in there because he’s a horse that travels.

“You look down the back, even though I was back, I decided to ride him a little bit quieter because I was going to have to push him down the straight. If I had done that I’d have been in a power of trouble because he’s a horse that’s still learning to settle.

“Even today he was still not out of control but still strong. I just got to the half-mile and I was going ‘please show me where to go’. I had that much horse underneath me. He was a bit one-paced at Mornington but today he took off. I think he’s a really nice progressive stayer.”
