“After his win at Werribee we just gave him an easy time. We all saw that it was probably a tough win for most of the way so it was good. Then the 1300 metres here, he’s that sort of horse in a bit of a sit and sprint and we knew that Sandown was going to suit him.

“He’s got a lot of ability. He’s just taken time - a lot of things not going his way. It was good to get that city win for the owners.”

Coming on Tuesday: “Prezado around a bend will be interesting.”

Winning Jockey: Damian Lane

“Great for the connections here today. Great that they can be on-course. A few of them are very loyal supporters of the stable so it’s great that they can be here.”

On the horse: “I’ve done a little bit (of work) on him this prep but in his younger days I did a lot of work with him and he was a very frustrating horse. It has taken this long to get three wins out of him (but) he has always shown above average ability. You’d take him to the races and he wouldn’t do things properly and bring himself undone.

“It’s rewarding for myself but even more so for the stable that he’s finally putting the potential he has shown.”
