“First time on the horse and I was (trying) to get cover early but it didn’t pan out. Just outside the leader and he’s a horse that can go the one speed all day.

“San Fabrizio sprinted on my outside and lucky we were at Flemington so I had time to fight back and he was strong to the line.

“At the top of the straight I was going to run fifth. A furlong out I thought I was going to run an easy third. Fifty (metres) out, I was getting busier because I was a chance of winning and he fought nicely to the line.”
