“There’s obviously a few horses there with booms on them. He’s a gelding up against the colts and he’s probably been a bit underestimated his whole career. He’s honest, puts in. ‘Buckets’ has ridden him phenomenal.

“We said to save him up, let ‘em go mad - which they did - and he got off their backs beautifully.”

Improvement: “He’s not the easiest horse to handle. He’s furnished more, he’s not the biggest horse but he just keeps getting better.”

Ownership: “Seymour Bloodstock, Trevor Luke, a couple of our big supporters are both in the horse. They actually gave away a five per-cent share in this horse as a raffle prize before this start so I hope we get a bit more business out of those guys.”

Raffle won by: “Boys from the Berwick Footy Club so I imagine they’ll be very, very happy.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor

Happy seeing what was unfolding: “When I saw the declarations with Jigsaw in blinkers and Rock Artist with Froggy (Craig Newitt) on board, it was a case of ‘set the fires, light the tyres’ and it panned out that way.”

Still had to capitalise on it though: “Jigsaw really dug in for the fight after setting some good sectionals early. I was just mindful of that down the side. I had Rock Artist covered but I couldn’t let Jigsaw get away because we might not have been able to make that break. I’ve got a lot of time for this horse. He’s always been quite progressive. I thought he had been under-rated in this field and he showed that.”

Working hard: “I didn’t need that five weeks off with broken ribs, that’s for sure. It was very boring and it stopped a lot of momentum. I had a lot of momentum at the end of last season. It’s taken a little bit to get the weight back down, but it’s good to be firing on all cylinders for the Busuttin and Young team.”
