Winning Trainer: John Sadler

“Really proud. I’m thrilled for all his owners. They’re a great group and they’ll be very disappointed they weren’t here today.

“He’s done a good job this campaign. I think the blinkers off is the case (key) with him. He’s a funny horse, very funny horse and he’s given us a lot of joy.”

Winning Jockey: Michael Dee

“You’ve got to find the happy medium with him and let him flow and be happy without overdoing it as such. We were able to flow along and he was finding top gear just on straightening. We were able to kick away and hold tat margin.

“Everywhere bar the race he’s the perfect ride but as soon as those gates open he’s in his own world and wants to do everything his own way. Oh well, it works for him.

Always felt in control of the race: “I just flowed across from the outside gate, gave him a squeeze just coming around the bend there and he really came up underneath me quite strong. When he did that I knew I was going to be hard to hold out.”

Dave Eustace on staying prospects next weekend: “Heart Of Puissance will either run at Flemington (over 2500 metres) or in Sydney (LR Winter Cup at Rosehill, 2400m) but that will be weather dependent. Or, he could be held back a week for the Brisbane Cup. It looks very fine and dry there.

“South Pacific and Grand Promenade will go to Flemington. Grand Promenade came through the Ramsden well. He ran a great race, in a weight-for-age race he ran ahead of some horses races 100-odd and he’s rated 87. On that he’s run a big race.

“South Pacific is quite ground dependent. He would want to be on a Soft 5 or below. But he’s in really good form. It was a good run at Warrnambool but he just got knocked over by Heart Of Puissance but he’s in good nick.”
