“Amazing. That was our All-Star Mile today. It’s a massive thrill for the stable. I’ve got such a good team at home. They all deserve it.

On the run: “It was perfect. Textbook, really. She’s normally a filly that begins well, puts herself on speed but when that horse came across on the outside, a couple of times in the run she’s been amongst horses she’s not very robust and they bump her about then the race is gone.”

First Saturday city winner: “It’s awesome. It’s brilliant. When the series was announced I looked at my stable and I thought she’s the only horse that potentially could go for it. Then she put in a couple of ordinary runs where things didn’t go her way. When the qualifier came up at Wangaratta we thought we’d give it a crack.

“When that field didn’t come up very strong we’ll chuck her in and see where she gets on. Obviously she won that race and I had to come here. It’d be rude not to and everything has just panned out. I think that recipe of the better race with no weight on her back is the making of her.

“My first one, and on All-Star Mile Day. This is our All-Star Mile for the country trainers. It’ll mean more to me winning this race then for whoever wins the All-Star Mile, I promise you.”

Winning Jockey: Patrick Moloney

“It’s obviously fantastic for his small but growing team. He’s a really up-and-coming young trainer. The first ride I had for him was on this girl in one of the heat races. She won really well and then we came here today and everything was fantastic.

“Usually she’s really hot but the weather calmed her down. She handled the occasion really well and as soon as the barriers opened everything just worked out perfectly. We took the sit off Astraeus and she just travelled beautifully for me.

“Coming into the straight I thought ‘I’m bolting here, I’m getting here a bit soon’. She was a little bit suspect over the mile but she obviously liked the conditions and a few others didn’t and we got the job done.

“Visibility was fine for me. I didn’t have any kickback and when you’re in front on the line it doesn’t matter.”
