Winning Trainer: Anthony & Sam Freedman (rep by Brad Taylor)

“He was well-rated out the front by Jamie again. We said to her if you can get a nice time and pitch him on the corner, he’ll be hard to run down and that’s exactly how she rode him.

“I thought when he straightened up and Rock The Ring came to the outside of him I thought he was a big chance but he kept fighting and held it comfortably on the line. He’s a horse that we did try at 1400 metres earlier in the preparation but we’ve gone back to the sprint trips and targeted this race a couple of races ago and it has worked out well. Yulong pick up the VOBIS money so it’s good for them.”

“He’s always shown us nice ability. They (allowed) us to geld him after his first couple of starts. He just lacked a bit of concentration and as you’ve seen, he’s come back a lot better this preparation and he’s got the job done.”

Future: “There’s probably not a lot for him over the next couple of months. We might give him a freshen up now and target a sprint race for him (on VOBIS Day). We’ll take a good look at the calendar.”

Success with J Kah: “I think, I could be wrong, but I think that ten of our last twelve winners have been ridden by J Kah.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

Success with Freedmans: “They’re a good team to keep in the good books. Glad I can keep them happy. This horse, I probably made a blue on him last start. He got pressured and I probably held onto him too much.

“Sam said he’s a very one-paced sprinter so tonight I knew he was probably one of the fitter horses in the race so I just let him slip on the turn and he was too strong.

“Once they pester him or challenge him he doesn’t find as much as he can. So I was happy to let him slip a bit earlier than I would normally.”
