Winning Trainer: Ben & JD Hayes (Bruno Rouge-Serret interviewed)

“He’s building a great profile. He’s a winner. He puts himself out of trouble (and) can accelerate and work all of those things out.

“Nice ride by Craig but he’s a horse that is really on the way up and to put five together is not often done not matter what grade you’re at.

“To go from a maiden to this 78 today, with 61 (kilos) on his back with the vest, he’s got a good profile and going the right way. He could be a very handy horse.”

What’s next: “You can’t stop them when they win five-in-a-row. You know they’re going to come to an end sooner or later. There’s the Seymour Cup run at Ballarat in a few weeks which profiles beautifully for him.

“He’ll drop in weight but go up in a class, obviously. I think he deserves a crack at a race like that. If he profiles like he did today and the race is run like that he’s going to be hard to beat.”

Williams aboard: “I don’t think we can get him off even if we tried.

“Everything is going right, the horse is going the right way and the boys have placed him beautifully. There has been the right rating races for him along the way and he’s learning his craft. He can have a crack at the Seymour Cup.”

Winning Jockey: Craig Williams

‘I must always thank my team but we had six rides. I don’t know what happened to the other two.

“I was doing my homework yesterday and I was very excited about coming to this meeting. The wind wasn’t an element, the track raced fine through the day.

On the horse: “I’m very lucky for the opportunity. I got him at the right time. Credit to Ben & JD, we had a conference call with the owners the other day. I hadn’t seen them. They went to the races when the horse got beaten so I think they’re the ‘moz’.

“He’s a really exciting horse. They’ve really placed this horse well. It’s not easy to win five-in-a-row - Black Caviar and Winx, look out. But they’ve done a really good job. They’ve had a plan with this horse. They are still shaping this horse and getting the best out of it and using every rating point they can on the way up to him being a black-type or group horse in the very near future.”
