“Pleasing. He’s a progressive horse. On that race he’s still very new to it - he’s got no idea what he’s doing yet and still being able to win so that is very encouraging.

“Maybe we’ll look at one more. We’re not going to go deep. That’s his first racing preparation so we’ll take a look at how he pulls up and have a chat to Wylie and the team. Shout out to Wylie Dalziel, he sourced this horse as a tried horse in New Zealand and great to have the win for him and the team.

Best trait of the horse so far: “Unbeaten.”

“Shout out to my little mate Trumby (Luke) Nolen and his brother Shaun, they lost their mum last night. The boys will be up there in Benalla probably having a cold one at this time of night. Thinking of you boys.

“Trumby rode this bloke and did a lot of work on him. Wish you were here, mate.”

Winning Jockey: Damien Oliver

“He’s a really nice horse. He’s a pretty laid back fella. He was on and off the bit at different times but he joined in nicely and then when he got to the front he pricked the ears and had a bit of a wait.

“I think Moods and ‘Trumby’ are going to have a nice horse on their hands there. The main part I liked was when I asked him, I was hedging my bets to come in or out on the turn and I was following Rathlin through.

“As we straightened he looked the winner but I was wary of what happened in the previous couple of furlongs and thought when he got there he might have a bit of a wait and he did.”
