Winning Trainer: Nick Ryan (rep by Toby Lake)

“First time with blinkers today, he was probably half a length slow and just found himself in a sticky spot. To Matt’s credit he didn’t panic, he knew what he had underneath him and that’s what he can do on his day. He was a pretty good horse as a three-year-old and I think he’ll be able to take the next step now.”

Next: “We’ll see how he pulls up. Maybe three runs in a month might be a bit much for him. We took him to Sydney at the end of last prep more to give him a trip away and try and grow him up and we gave him a good spell after that and really wanted to target the straight races. It’s good for him to win on his home track.”

“Nick takes a close eye on this horse during the week when he’s thinking about backing him up. What we do with him now, I’m not sure, but there might be a race for him over the carnival. We’ll let him tell us.”

Winning Jockey: Matt Cartwright

“The blinkers going on, it sparked him up quite a lot. Obviously I was in a sticky spot but once he got clear he let down well and won good.

“Today he was a bit more fired up within himself. With the blinkers going on he was just a little bit more fired up. To his credit he got out well and let down good.”
