“She’s got plenty of upside. Just had w wide barrier to overcome today and Sam left it up to me for what to do from out there, and after she began so well I decided to roll forward and she had enough speed and enough toe to go forward.

“Really switched off lovely for me in the middle sectors and there was enough in the tank for her to finish strong.

“I was very happy with the way she found her rhythm and relaxed underneath me. Obviously it wasn’t the choice to roll forward but it worked out alright and I think she’s got that upside to go through the grades.”

On Gunstock in Derby, Saturday: “I’m really looking forward to Gunstock. His preparation has been fantastic. I think he’ll relish the 2500 metres. We do have the wide barrier to overcome but it just means that I’ll have to give him a really good ride.”
