Came wider on the track: “The going seems to be better out there and it was a good ride by the jockey.

“It was good to get this horse over the line. Bought her out of the paddock at Makybe Stud for relatively cheap - $30,000 - and some good friends of mine in Perth are in it, some in Sydney and some mates of mine here so it is a good crew.”

Lack of success before this: “When they (the owners) walked in they saw me with my lip on the ground so they kicked that up a but it is always good to start off with a winner.

“I was feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders - I put it on myself. I aimed a few at the carnival and it is good to get one up and hopefully we can get another one up.”

Winning Jockey: Jarrod Fry

“Just kept improving. Obviously I’ve ridden the horse in every start and kept raising the bar with it.

“Showed limited potential early days but as it has got to the races it has just kept improving. Showed a good turn-of-foot today and put them away.

“Where we came (down the track) it is sort of fresh ground and my horse seemed to appreciate it.

“We had a few bullets (ride) to fire yesterday and we were sort of around the mark. Couldn’t nail one but it is good to start today with a winner.”
