Pre-race tactics: “It was funny, before the race she (Alana Kelly) said ‘I think it might open up on the rail’ and I just said don’t go inside horses, just come outside and keep it easy and she did completely the opposite but she’s a great rider and she can do whatever she wants when she rides them that way.”

During the run: “We had a bit of a query whether she’d enjoy going between them as opposed to coming out as she did at Caulfield but she was super impressive and really attacked the line.”

Black type future: “It’s hard to know, Eddie (Hirsch) races and then breeds them himself so it’s not as paramount as you might think to get black type with her, obviously it’d be a fantastic result but he’s probably going to hang on to her and breed from her himself and then race her progeny. We’ll just try and keep her winning, keep her prize money up and if the opportunity presents I’m sure she’ll be good enough.”

Behind a wall of horses: “Definitely (had concerns) but she was just travelling so well that I was able to manipulate where she could go and the runs opened up for her and she just had such a good sprint late.”
