Left the silks at home: “Tanita packed the bag, I took Charlie to soccer practice and forgot the colours. Anyway, a win’s a win.”

The horse: “At the 500 (metre mark) I was a bit worried there when we had the ‘First Light’ horse all over us, but Harry had a heap underneath him got the gap, we got a bit more luck and got the bob in.”

Next: “She’ll go to Moonee Valley and she goes to the 1800 and then the 2000. She’s got another win on the board, it was overdue but we’ve got to win what black type race.”

Winning Jockey: Harry Coffey

“Daniel was a little bit disappointed when he forgot his colours but I said when they’ve got Flemington written on them there’s nothing to be too ashamed of. It is good to be here.

“It’s a bit better than Wodonga or Casterton, isn’t it?

“He’s done a great job with this horse. Prepped her up nicely and I’m just fortunate enough to be involved.

“In saying that, every ride I’ve had on her I’ve learnt a bit more about her and I feel like we’re starting to click and today showed that.

“I tested the waters early (today) and the waters were a little bit deep to be jumping into so I just had to wait a bit longer.

“She’s not an overly big filly and she’s also been a filly that has been in races where she has been knocked around and hasn’t had a lot of luck. You’ve got to be mindful of that when you’re making runs.

“As we went further into the straight, more room came and I was able to get through. To be honest, I didn't know that Johnny (Allen on Cardigan Queen) was sneaking up. He took me and Fortunate Kiss by surprise but we were lucky enough to get the bob.

“I have to say a big thank you to Daniel. He gives me a really good go and he’s not only a great trainer but he’s quite loyal and he’s a good friend of mine so I’m happy to go wherever she’s going because he’s backed me and I’ve got to back him and his horses.

“I’m happy to do that.”
