“It’s lovely to win a race at Warrnambool. It’s a great carnival and it is great to see it so well supported by such a great crowd.

“It has been a tight time for everyone and to get back to the races, it’s such a great spectacle for everyone and the jumping racing here is second-to-none. Well worth coming.

“We thought he was an each-way chance. It is tough going in the softer ground. There were a couple of better performed horses but he is like a big kid. He has taken a while to get his act together.

“He won a race three starts back. He’s learning and he’s getting better with every run.”

Competitive jumps race: “Very even. Have run places in every races but could win one and it’s great to win one.”

Winning Jockey: Darryl Horner Jr

The track: “It’s very testing, it’s very pluggy. Coming out of the straight the first time he struggled to get his feet out of the ground but I’ve always liked this horse. He’s got a very good record.

“That’s my third win on him today in four rides so I’d like to think he runs for me but he beat some pretty handy horses there today.

“I tried to hold him together for as long as I could being testing ground and it was just a matter of when we could get into a bit of clear air that he was going to explode, which he did.

“Even when he hit the front he was still going a bit wayward but he’s a nice horse and it's not a May Carnival without Eric training a winner.”

Competitive jumps races this week: “Absolutely crazy. I came in with some handy enough rides that I thought could be in the money and everything I’ve ridden has been up to the mark.

“This horse is obviously my best result. I just love it (the carnival), the atmosphere, you get halfway down the straight and you can hear the ground. It makes you lift.”
