Took a while to breakthrough, has been impressive since: “It’s incredible. My staff have done a super job. These results are fairytale results. They don’t always happen. Rory Hunter, my assistant, has done the bulk of the work with and spoilt him rotten and there’s a good reason for it.”

Jake had a good understanding of the tempo: “He didn’t have a lot of luck early, but he made a really good decision about the 1000 when he let them come around him. That’s knowing the track.

“I was listening to Terry (Bailey) before the race saying a local horse hadn’t won throughout the day. It’s always been a special day this.”

The day going to another level: “It was always a good day on the Wednesday. It’s a terrific track, its a terrific club and I’m just thankful to win one.”

Winning Jockey: Jake Noonan

The ambassador for the meeting: “Surely I get the keys to the town now. What an awesome thrill. This horse to come from where he has. We race the bar and he keeps coming up. It’s a team effort. Rory, Jess that rides him work has done a fantastic job because he’s come such a long way. He was so aggressive. If you said to me three months ago that he would run a mile, I would have said you’re dreaming. To get a win, Mornington Cup Day, for the local supporters, the crowd has been awesome.”

To find out what works for a horse must be so satisfying: “That’s what its about. We’re not all blessed with $500,000 horses or horses with Group 1 ability, so we have to find the best and get the best out of them and unfortunately sometimes that’s being a bit more patient you want to and you’re not being rewarded financially. It’s hard to stay in the zone, but we’ve good owners, patient people and it’s about putting the work into the horse and it’s fantastic that it’s paid off. To win a Saturday race on you hometown Cup day, is so good for us all.”
